Summary	A poor Bengali family survives in a village but wider horizons tempt the father. The protection of family members reputations, the relationship of the family group to an elderly aunt, and first confrontations with death contribute to the early development of the boy Apu. Hisfather^'s dreams prevail over the objections of his mother so that at the end of the film the family moves to the big city of Benares
Summary	Pather Panchali เล่าเรื่องในช่วงต้นศตวรรษที่ 20 ณ หมู่บ้านชนบทแห่งหนึ่งครอบครัววรรณะพราหมณ์ ฐานะยากจน ผลพวงของความยากจน ทำให้พ่อต้องเดินทางไปต่างเมืองเป็นเวลานานๆ เพื่อหางานทำ ทิ้งให้แม่เป็นผู้ดูแลความเป็นอยู่ของลูก 2 และหญิงชราที่เป็นญาติผู้ใหญ่ ความอัตคัดขัดสนใช่เพียงมีผลต่อชีวิตที่ต้องดำเนินไปเท่านั้น แต่ยังพรากสมาชิกในครอบครัวไปถึง 2 คน คนแรกคือหญิงชรา ซึ่งนอนตายตามลำพังในป่าเพราะถูกแม่ไล่ออกจากบ้าน อีกคนหนึ่งคือ ดูร์กา ลูกสาว ซึ่งป่วยหนักและเสียชีวิต กว่าที่พ่อจะรู้ว่าลูกสาวจากไปก็เมื่อผ่านไปหลายวัน
